Digerfallet – Waterfall and Hidden History Near Sysslebäck

Digerfallet is one of the most impressive waterfalls in North Värmland, especially in spring and early summer when the water flow is at its strongest. Surrounded by forest, it is a wonderful place to enjoy the sound of rushing water and take beautiful photos.

Hiking tip: Combine it with Granberget
Digerfallet is also located on the route towards Granberget, with it’s 701 meters the highest mountain of Värmland. It’s a wonderful area for hiking with scenic views over the valley. Many guests combine a visit to the waterfall with a longer walk in the surrounding nature.

A special detail: Early hydropower history
Digerfallet is not only a natural highlight — it also has an interesting connection to local history. Fämtfallet – A Waterfall Shaped by Industry and Nature

Fämtfallet is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the region and has long been an important place for both nature and human activity. The strong flow of water made it an ideal location for early industry, especially wood processing.

As early as the 17th century, waterpower was used here to operate a frame saw, allowing timber from the surrounding forests to be processed locally. Later, during the 1800s, the area around Fämtfallet became part of Femtå Bruk, an industrial site that relied on the waterfall’s power. Foundations of old mills and industrial structures can still be found near the falls, quietly blending into the landscape.

Today, Fämtfallet is also the starting point of several walking routes, including the Fämtleden, a scenic trail that leads through varied forest terrain. The combination of dramatic water, forest walks and historical traces makes Fämtfallet a very complete outdoor experience.
